It was the first time Addax had played on a grass pitch and they soon were trailing 15 nil to St Olave’s in the Junior Tournament. But despite the atrocious conditions they got into their stride and scored a great try in the second half. Although they dominated the second half they couldn’t penetrate St Olave’s good defensive line and the scored stayed at 15 5 to St Olave’s.
With the weather deteriorating fast Catholic University didn’t show for the second game. This gave Addax chance to practice their attacking moves. They were joined by Dayo Adebayo, the former Bath and England International, who has been coaching them in Nigeria. The boys came out for their third game against Birchgrove and despite the thunder and lightening they put in a fantastic performance to run out 12 – 5 winners. This meant they were tied on points at the top of the table but just failed to qualify for the knockout stage based on the number of tries scored.
You have to see what will surely be the tackle of the tournament by Kelechi. This tackle was part of a great performance which won him the Man of the Match Award. Kelechi was over the moon to receive the £25 voucher donated by JJB Sports. Excellent commentaries on the games was provided were provided by Orlando and Marcus of Papplewick School, who both received a Ram rugby ball each.

School Sports Action TV would like to give special thanks to Nick from Edwin Doran and Dave Jones from the Welsh Exiles for their generous help in what were atrocious conditions. And of course thanks go to Rose Tanner for organising such a great tournament.
